Clanton visits Eldora for Intercontinental Classic

After promoters and race officials were forced to postpone the 50th annual World 100 to 2021, Shane Clanton was one of 48 Late Models invited to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday night to compete in the Intercontinental Classic. Grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race, Clanton locked into the 14th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature. On Friday afternoon for another $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Shane posted a seventh place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the show. Running into trouble early, Clanton hurt a motor on the fifth lap that forced him to retire early.

He elected to sit out Saturday night’s Intercontinental Classic finale to save equipment.
