Shane Clanton visits Cherokee and Smoky Mountain with LOLMDS

On Friday night Shane Clanton visited Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for the 22nd annual Grassy Smith Memorial. Drawing 37 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Shane secured his spot into the opening night feature with a third place finish in his heat. Coming shy of a Top-10 finish in the 50-lap affair, Clanton slipped back to a 20th place outing.

For the second round of the LOLMDS doubleheader, Clanton headed to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Saturday for the Mountain Moonshine Classic. Failing to obtain a transfer spot in both his heat and B-Main, Shane was granted a provisional into the $15,000-to-win finale. Passing four cars in the 60-lap affair, Clanton recorded a 21st place outing. (Michael Moats photo)

Shane is currently in eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
