Skyline Motorsports follows LOMDS to Golden Isles

On Tuesday evening Shane Clanton made the trip to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) piloting the Skyline Motorsports No. 25 Late Model for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Reopening Tour. Drawing 43 cars for the Optima Batteries Golden Isles Nationals, Clanton followed up the seventh fastest time in his qualifying group with a third place finish in his heat. The following night in a field of 39 cars, Shane posted a second place finish in his heat behind Devin Moran, which positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the $7,000-to-win A-Main. With four cautions slowing the 40-lap affair, Clanton advanced forward two spots to place fourth behind Kyle Bronson, Tyler Erb, and Jimmy Owens with Tim McCreadie coming in fifth.

For the third and final round of the Optima Batteries Golden Isles Nationals on Thursday evening, Clanton fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Shane locked into the 18th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win finale. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Shane Clanton improved ten spots to come home ninth.

On Saturday afternoon Clanton stopped at Needmore Speedway (Norman Park, Ga.) for the inaugural Gene Maine Memorial. Shane is currently in ninth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
