Top-10 finish in 51st annual World 100 prelim

Shane Clanton made the trip to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to compete in preliminary action for the 51st annual World 100. With the massive 80-car field divided into two groups, Clanton followed up the fifth fastest lap in his group with a second-place finish in his heat. Starting on the third row of his heat race on Thursday, Shane gained three spots to register a runner-up finish. Earning the 12th-starting position for the $54,000-to-win World 100, Clanton faded back to a 19th-place outing when the checkered flag flew.

On Friday afternoon as the 50th annual World 100 got underway, Clanton’s third-place finish in his heat race pinned him 12th on the starting grid for the preliminary feature. With $10,000 on the line, Shane logged a 14th-place finish.

Slated to start on the pole of his heat race on Saturday night, Shane suffered a broken driveshaft as the field went green, creating a chain-link tangle. He was a scratch from the remainder of the evening.
