Eighth-place outing in Topless 100 at Batesville

After Mother Nature eliminated Thursday’s opener, Shane Clanton was one of 47 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) on Friday for the 29th annual Comp Cams Topless 100. With the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race placing him 16th on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Shane was an early retiree on the fifth circuit.

With his early exit on Friday pinning him fourth in his B-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $40,000-to-win Topless 100, Clanton came one spot shy of a transferring with a fourth-place finish. Earning a provisional into the finale, Shane advanced through the field 15 spots in the 100-lap affair to place eighth.

Shane sits in ninth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
