Clanton continues Speedweek action at Golden Isles and Bubba

With sickness sidelining him the first two nights of action, Clanton made his 2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series debut on Saturday for the $25,000-to-win Super Bowl of Racing finale at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.).

With 52 cars signed in, Clanton collected a heat race victory following a 6th-fastest qualifying effort in his group. Starting the 60-lap feature from the third row, Shane was involved in a scuffle on the initial start but rallied and finished ninth to wrap up action at Golden Isles.

Following the series to Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Fla.) on Sunday, Clanton was relegated to a B-Main after a seventh-place finish in his heat race. With one more chance at making the A-Main field, Shane finished one spot out of a transfer in fourth.

Finishing up the second week of Speedweeks, Clanton ripped off the second-fastest lap in his qualifying group but his time was disallowed after weighing in light at the scales. Clanton was a scratch from his B-Main later in the night.
