Shane Clanton Tops Clash at the Mag at Magnolia Motor Speedway
Veteran Driver Scores $12,000 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Victory
ZEBULON, Ga. (08/11/25) – Persistence paid off for Shane Clanton on Saturday night as the veteran racer stormed to victory in the Clash at the Mag finale at Magnolia Motor Speedway, collecting a $12,000 payday in COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) action aboard his Super K Express / SCCS Solutions No. 25 Capital Race Cars / Clements Racing Engines Super Late Model.
The Zebulon, Georgia, native took the lead on lap 12, only for pole-starting Josh Putnam to reclaim the top spot a lap later. Clanton battled back, executing a decisive crossover on lap 33 to regain control and lead the final 17 circuits to his first win of the 2025 season.
“This is a young man’s sport right here, being 50 years old, I’m wore out,” Clanton said. “I was trying to dodge the holes (on the bottom), but you could go through them and make some ground. Josh (Putnam) was doing a hell of job trying to make his car go off turn two over there. I got a good run, didn’t mean to get into him in three, but I was trying to slide him to get back to my spot in three and four. It was a hell of a race.”
Clanton’s weekend in Mississippi began Friday, where he charged from third to first in his heat race before retiring from the Clash at the Mag opener on lap five.
On Saturday, he outdueled Sam Seawright in his heat race to earn a prime starting spot for the main event, then claimed the lead for good on lap 33 to score his first career CCSDS triumph.

Clanton will take the next few weeks off as the team prepares for the 55th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway. Twin preliminary nights on Thursday, September 4, and Friday, September 5, will set the stage for Saturday’s $72,000-to-win finale.
